“This TV will no longer let me change the volume, it says “Volume control buttons are not supported for your current audio output device”. There’s an Xbox attached to it but this only started 2 weeks ago. We also have 2 remotes for it.”

I would go to your audio settings and see if there is a different (external) audio being used. Change the default to the tv speakers if you dont have a sound system attached to it. You can also do a factory reset if that doesnt help.
