I think the VCR mode is probably the default mode for connection to a cable box on HDM1. It's a tad confusing, but it works.

Maybe Set Top Box refers to something other than a cable box. Very confusing, but at least I am able to get cable reception from my cable box when tv is tuned to VCR. Picture is actually pretty decent for such a budget-friendly tv.

Left it for over 15 minutes before turning it back on. Same situation. Only works on VCR mode. On HDM1 it tell me there are no channels to scan. I will avoid this brand in the future.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi there! Try turning off then uplug the TV from the power outlet and also unplug all the connecting devices on the unit for 5-10 minutes. Then, plug the cable box into the HDMI1 port on the TV, plug back in the TV to the power outlet and then turn it on and select the correct input source. Insignia Support Angela
