• I was able to connect my 1 TB external drive. I could copy files from that drive to my Mac mini. However, I could not write to the drive because the format of the drive is Windows NT File System NTFS. It is read only. I was unable to change that. I am able to read and write to standard USB sticks.

• Loaded question - are they USB-C drives your are adapting to use with this? I would say no - you might be able to sneak one by. If the drives are 3.0 you should be ok anything higher I would recommend getting a powered unit to be safe.
