• You can use the Channel Up/Down buttons on the remote to change/switch local channels.

• We have AT&T UVerse. We change channels with the remote from AT&T. Not sure how you could do it without the extra remote. You can always call tech support. We had to call when setting up TV to see how to get to cable. They are very helpful and walk u thru everything.
