• It is recommended to allow five inches of space between the back and sides of the wine cooler.

• I've installed mine in a mini bar and there isn't any space on the sides. I made sure it had the 5 inches needed behind to exhaust the heat. The unit itself is running exactly the same as before. It doesn't get warm on the sides. I've had no problems with my installation and it's been over a year this way.
