• The bottom side is smooth, the top side is textured.

• I believe they are the same on both sides. If you roll it up from the same end each time, the first end where you start the rolling will become a little curlier. I put that below my feet and add some small weights to keep it from curling up.

• The mat comes rolled up with the top on the outside that should face up. The more squared looking pattern goes downward to the floor.
