Yes. This is exactly why I bought this just for my tablet for movies and shows. Absolutely clear sound no Bass at all.
I have Bose with bass which I use for music.

The Insignia speaker produces quite a bit of bass as well. If you're looking for more clarity this might not be the one you want.

If u turn down the volume on ur phone or mp3 player, the sound does well up to full volume on the speaker itself.
