• The cord that comes with the unit is a microUSB. Apple phones use a 30-pin cable or a Lightning Port cable.

• It does work with Apple iPhone, just need to use your apple cord when charging you phone

• I agree it would be a better design if a standard iPhone charger cable both charged the battery and connected to the phone. As always, seems the manufacturer want us to have a multitude of cables and transformers.

• It has a micro-usb cable, which works with pretty much all non-iphone smart phones. You might be able to use the charging cord for you iphone.

• The end of the cord is used for charging the actual charger. All you need is your regular iPhone charging adapter that you would use to plug into a wall. You just plug the USB portion into portable charger. I used it every day on a family trip with my iPhone and it worked great!
