The cord that comes with the unit is a microUSB. Apple phones use a 30-pin cable or a Lightning Port cable.

It does work with Apple iPhone, just need to use your apple cord when charging you phone

I agree it would be a better design if a standard iPhone charger cable both charged the battery and connected to the phone. As always, seems the manufacturer want us to have a multitude of cables and transformers.

It has a micro-usb cable, which works with pretty much all non-iphone smart phones. You might be able to use the charging cord for you iphone.

The end of the cord is used for charging the actual charger. All you need is your regular iPhone charging adapter that you would use to plug into a wall. You just plug the USB portion into portable charger. I used it every day on a family trip with my iPhone and it worked great!
