When you're listening to music/ podcast and your phone rings, you can hear it through the speaker. Your phone gives you an option to use this speaker, answer as a regular call, or use the speaker on your phone. The one time I did answer with this speaker, it didn't work all that well. Hope this helps

Hello SoCalPhotog, to answer your questions let me explain that when listening to music or following Siri's directions the music and Siri voice will be paused if a call comes in and during the call, you will have to press the "phone button" just to answer the call and to end it.
