Yes, you can connect an external Bluetooth transmitter to your tv (or anything else) and the Insignia speakers will receive the bt broadcast. Connect the transmitter to the tv via the audio out (headset jack, optical output, etc.), and then just place both the transmitter and the speaker in bt pairing mode and they will connect by themself in a few seconds. I have one by MEElectronics that will even transmit to two devices simultaneously via bt which can send sound to two speakers out on the deck to listen to the game while BBQ-ing and guests watch the tv in the house. Note: All Bluetooth transmitter protocols have an inherent ~200ms latency/delay so the tv video will be slightly out of sync with the speaker audio. This isn't so noticeable for me on the deck, but is noticeable if I place the speakers near the tv - especially if the tv speaker is playing at the same time.
