“I have 2 of these NS-CSPGASP-B and NS-CSPGASP-G, the black reduces volume to 20% while playing music if you wave your hand over it so you can talk to the assistant. but the gray does not reduce the volume at all. what can i do to fix this?”

Go into the Google Assistant app and select the device your wanting to change. Then in that settings page go to " Lower Volume While Listening " and turn that feature on. That will fix the problem your having.
