What I can do is say it works for me and describe my setup and hope that it helps you. I built my desktop a few years ago, so it's not the newest rig around. It has an AMD 4 core processor and a 1 TB SSD HD. I like to build my own because I can choose long lasting components and would have to shell out a lot of money if purchased. I get a reliable download speed of 200 mega bits per second. I've connected the PC to a recently purchased LeNovo laptop which does not have an RJ45 network port and which provides a reliable connection with no slowdown on either machine. Consequently, if you have a similar arrangement, it should work. This adapter gets good reviews and is not a cheapie. I might add that these machines are connected with a high speed switch.
