“So far this device works great but I want to know if it is safe online? it goes into my router but does not show up as a wifi option on my task bar. Can I turn it off without unplugging it? If so where do I go to turn it off? Thanks, Mary”

You can’t turn it off it’s a driver down loaded. You can however go into the computer connections and select the j5 and disable it when needed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If your router is safe, it is safe. No way to turn it off but it is USB. Just unplug it and plug it back in when you need it. Your PC should pick up the USB connection as soon as you plug it in.
