I was wondering the same thing as mine also get really hot. I plugged it in to my laptop for about 5 mins and it got to the point where I almost couldn’t hold it.

However, if it is becoming too hot to the point where it is harming you, I recommend exchanging the j5create device. The only difference I'm aware of is the wall jack / port. What could be the issue with the wall jack/port at the office that causes my ethernet to USB-C converter to heat up so?
