“When is the next firmware update? These used to disconnect when placed back into the case. As of the last update (which was quite a while ago) they no longer do that. Also, the light inside the case no longer shows the current charge level. Dumb.”

I just purchased mine in late November 2020 on Black Friday sale and when they arrived, they disconnected when placed in the case and the in-case light represents the correct battery level. I'm not sure what is wrong with your headset, but I would contact Jabra Support and ask them what's wrong.
