No, you can use just the right if you want (I use just 1 for cycling). You lose the left side controls (skip, volume) but you keep the voice control which you can use to skip (or change volume).

No, if you remove right earbud which seems to be the primary controller all sound will mute until put back in your ear. Remove the left earbud and music will still continue to play from right earbud but keep in mind controller for volume and song skip are located on the left earbud.

No, the right one has to be in to work, but the left one can be removed. You do lose the ability to change volume using the buds as that is on the left one.

Yes and no, the right bud is the "control center" if you take it out the music will stop. In the other hand, if you take the left out, the music will continue to play in the right.
