You could technically use this for a computer, but only if your computer has an optical audio out, or over Bluetooth. Most laptops do not have an optical audio out, but you can buy a separate sound card for a desktop tower that has an optical audio output. Depending on your use case Bluetooth may not sync properly to video, I don't recommend Bluetooth if you're watching a lot of video or trying to use it for gaming.
