I've used the pulse2 and flip at the pool and used the charge 2 at the gym. I would suggest more than 1 for a pool party. With the JBL app, you can pair multiple speakers together.

Hi DCDC,
The ideal room or outdoor area size that would likely fill the place with sound would be a small to medium room or outdoor location. It is loud, but not loud enough for a large outdoor area. I suggest 2 speakers minimum but 3 wouldn't hurt hehe. Great thing about this device is linking them with a push of a button (link button right next to the power button)
