Yes. Only the right one works with phone. I saw this answer (from JBL) in a Q&A forum about 3 weeks ago.

This is correct. Only the master ear has audio when using these on a phone call.

I'm not sure what's supposed to happen, but I only get sound in the right ear.

JBL sucks. The left hardly ever connects for anything. Had it for 1 day and it stopped working

That's been my experience. Only stereo audio sources appear to engage the left bud.

If you want both to work, you just press and hold each at a time to turn both earbuds on
