“I never owned JBl speakers before. I own Bose speakers though. I'm considering purchasing this speaker. Would you recommend this speaker over the first xtreme? Is this louder than the first JBL xtreme?”

Yes would recommend you get the xtreme 2 it’s a newer model it’s slightly bigger and is a lot better and the speakers have been updated.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have the extreme 2. I picked it because of the waterproofing. Louder than the old one? No way less. Im not a Bose person, the bass is not natural ( my opinion). But I would stick with Bose. Jbl is Hamon kardon. Both good brands

I like the Extreme, although it is heavily equalized...aggressive sounding with tight bass and loud. High end sounds a bit harsh when pointed directly at you. The Extreme 2 is more balanced through the audio spectrum, but sounds so wimpy I returned it for refund...the bass is a little deeper on this one. If they can fix it with a firmware upgrade, I might give it another try.
