There is a little lip on the side that you lift and plug in a charging cord. These take the charging cords that fit many devices.

Either your earbuds are defective or you are over-charging them. If you tend to overcharge your electronic devices they will not hold the charge as well and will die faster.

Take them back to the store. Maybe they can give you a new charging plug or wire. 

I must say, headphones are the only electronic piece of equipment that I buy the insurance on. The insurance is a small cost and if something goes wrong they give me a brand new pair of headphones. With my last set of JLab they gave me two new sets of headphones during the five years that I had them.
