It’s better to, yes. The outer edge sticks out more than the screen to help with a drop but the case doesn’t go directly over the screen.

I highly recommend buying the Best buy Brand Armor Shield screen protector instead of Zagg.
scratch up the best buy brand screen protector, and bring it in with your original receipt, and they give you a free new one and they even put it on for you.

yes you still need a screen saver. if you tend to drop your phone a lot this may not be the best case. As the sides of the case don't offer much protection for the face of the phone.
