• It should work by turning your machine on. Wait for the machine to warm up, 10-15 seconds. Then with your milk in the mixing cup with lid on it should work just by pushing the button for latte.

• Yes, the frother has its own separate of buttons and works as long as it's powered on. I've personally used it standalone to make got chocolate.
