Yes, you can. I primarily drink various teas (black, green and herbal) and haven't had any problems. You can also use the My K Cup with it so, you could cut open a tea bag, dump the contents in the My K Cup, remove the cup holder, place the My K Cup in the machine and brew a cup of tea that way.
