It can be installed over a built-in wall oven, or ovens, as long as there is 3" distance from the wall oven and the lower cutout for the microwave. This is from the installation instructions. I think the previous answer is referring to installing over a cooktop, which this microwave is not made for. You would think KitchenAid would have some reasonably knowledgeable people responsible for answering customer questions.

The unit can not be installed over and oven and can is intended to be installed in a built in cabinet. We hope this helps.
