“I have a kitchen aid model # KMLS311HBS-3 low-profile microwave and am now adding roof venting instead of circulating through the microwave. I've read the manual thoroughly and do not see anywhere that the blow motor needs to be rotated. Does it?”

You should read page 4 of the installation manual. Look for the section entitled "Roof Venting Installation." There is no rotating of the blow motor. You will need to remove a damper plate to allow air to move from the top of the microwave. Good luck.
