• It's black stainless steel. I've seen it in person at the store and have talked to Kitchenaid personally about it. They have three versions of this model: Black Stainless Steel (KRFC704FBS), Stainless Steel (KRFC704FSS) and Fingerprint Resistant Stainless Steel (KRFC704FPS).

• We just saw this model (and bought it) this evening. It is Black Stainless and does have a smudge proof finish. We tested it, and it does seem to resist fingerprints. It also will hold magnets which is a plus for me! :)

• I believe BS means Black Stainless. Silver stainless is designated SS.
