Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your KitchenAid® Dishwasher, model KDFS324SPS. We understand how important it is to have clear information about maintaining your appliance to keep it performing at its best. This model features a self-cleaning filtration system designed to continuously provide effective cleaning by removing food particles from the wash water. The great news is that this advanced system is designed to be maintenance-free, meaning it requires no regular cleaning or upkeep from you under normal operating conditions. However, if you ever find it necessary to check the foreign object cup for items that shouldn't be in the filtration system (like large food chunks or hard objects), you can easily do so by following these three steps: Remove: To access the cup, first remove the bottom rack of your dishwasher. Grasp the handle of the foreign object cup, located at the bottom of the tub, and turn it 1/4 turn counterclockwise to unlock and lift it out. Empty: Simply empty any collected debris or foreign objects from the cup into the trash. Replace: Place the cup back into its housing. Turn it 1/4 turn clockwise until it clicks into the locked position and then replace the bottom rack. We hope this information helps you enjoy the convenient features of your KitchenAid® appliance!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The filter is easy to remove and clean. Pull out the bottom drawer and reach into the bottom of the dishwasher, has a large grip easy to turn counter clockwise 1/4 turn. I rinse it under the kitchen tap and replace it by turning it quarter turn. I prefer to do this once a week but it doesn’t need to be done that often. You can gauge how frequently to clean the filter based on how much food is trapped in it.
