• Hi Char, The bowl does not rotate, the beater, dough hook and wire whip when attached to the shaft mixes. The beater can be used for mixing cake mixes.

• Yes, the bowl turns automatically and beater can be used with whatever is to be mixed, i.e. potatoes, etc. Works beautifully.
