Do I need the app to do simple things like check the timer, see the temperature etc?
And second, does that app have to be either an Alexa or Google app? I hate both. Though I probably hate Alexa more. null

Hi Lynn, you do not need to use to the App to check simple features. The connected feature is compatible with Google and Alexa but not necessary. Here is the link to the Owner's Manual. Page 13-14 will have instructions. https://bit.ly/3efTEci We hope this helps!
