“How high is the lip at the bottom that keeps the laptop from sliding down? I already have a desk but the rim is not high enough to hold the laptop in place because my laptop has a radius on the bottom and is thick and it just slides out of place.”

It's 1/2 inch. I will add, it's the one thing I'm not pleased with as I'm not sure the screws are long enough to keep it securely in place.
