“Why does the website specification say HEPA filter but the manual says HEPA Type filter? Does this with the Ion feature make a difference?”

The Use and Care Guide (Product Specifications) and Air Purifier Quick Start flyer included with the air purifier, and the Optional Filter Pack flyer included with the filter pack, state: HEPA-Type filter. Also included in the filter pack is an activated Carbon Filter and a Pre-filter. The negative ion generator is permanent according to the Guide. Per “my” internet research, some sites state a HEPA-Type filter is used in, for instance, compact and / or more economical models. As to “Why?” the difference in description on product website and manual, this is a question better answered by the manufacturer, Lasko.
