“Quite confused. In another question someone said the HDMI cord provided does not support 144hz. But in another answer someone said the HDMI cord provided DOES support 144hz. If it does, do you just change it to 144hz in window settings? or is there more.”

You can use the included HDMI cable with this monitor. You will need to set your monitor to Game Mode to get 144Hz Refresh Rate.
