“Can someone please describe to me how to install a 3.5” HDD? I see what I’m certain is the slot for it in the bottom right but that plastic band is in the way and I can’t get anything to move, or find guides for this model online. Also, where is the SSD?”

You can remove the plastic insert from the cage, it might require a bit of force. Once the plastic disk tray is out, there are 4 pins on the inside that will line up with the 3.5" HDD. The same will go in placing an 2.5" SSD in a 3.5" enclosure that would fit in there as well.
