Hi, Liyah. You sure can do those kinds of tasks on this LOQ 15. You'd have more power for gaming during down time as well. One thing to consider if you're an all over campus kind of student or just generally active, you want to be mobile with your laptop and travel with it place to place. Some devices, like this gaming focused LOQ here, can be bulkier, with more weight, to help with cooling and more power, so please keep that in mind as you search to find the right solution for you.

My suggestion is to check with your school for computer requirements, especially if you plan on any specialization. Otherwise, you can spend half of the price on this and be fine.
