• Yes you can. Mine is sitting on the t.v. Stand. However it blocks the sensor on the t.v when you're trying to power it off.

• Certainly could. I have mine sitting right below/in front of my 65 inch TV. Turn your TV speakers off of course when using the sound bar. I can use my normal remote to control volume of the soundbar even when my TV speakers are off.
