While this model does not use a traditional exposed heating element for a "Heated Dry" cycle—instead utilizing a Hybrid Condensing Drying System to be more energy-efficient and gentler on plastics—the internal heater is responsible for heating the water during the wash and rinse cycles. This model meets NSF-Certified Sanitization standards by using that internal heater to raise the water temperature to the high levels required to effectively reduce bacteria during the final rinse.
