“Can the sound bar be placed on the side of the tv instead of at the bottom?”

• If you mean horizontally then you could do this but the sound will be off center from the picture which defeats the point of having an expensive sound bar. If you mean vertically, then no because there are up firing speakers that would now not face up. While you can do anything you want mounting it, I would strongly suggest only under or over the TV.
