Page 23 of the manual says you must use a high speed HDMI cable WITH ETHERNET in order for ARC functions to work. Is this true? I don't understand why the Ethernet would be needed. null

This is true. I have a few HDMI cables that don't have "Ethernet" written on them and the ARC was not recognized. They must have just been very old cables. Picking up a new HDMI cable will do the trick if you don't have one that says "Ethernet" on it.

The "ethernet" part is really a speed qualification (18Gb I think), it is the same speed that necessary to pass DTS/Dolby 7.1 or Atmos surround signals
