Optical just transmits the audio. You may want to consider using the ARC connection in order to facilitate the auto on/off features.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It seems that the issue is with the soundbar turning off on its own. Here are some possible solutions : 1. Check the ARC connection: Some users have reported issues with the ARC connection between their LG TV and LG soundbar. Make sure that the soundbar is connected to the TV via the ARC port and that the ARC function is enabled in the TV settings. 2. Check the HDMI cable: If the soundbar is connected to the TV via HDMI, try replacing the HDMI cable or using a different HDMI port on the TV. 3. Check the soundbar settings: Make sure that the soundbar is set to the correct input source (in this case, Optical) and that the volume is not muted or turned down too low. 4. Check the power settings: Some soundbars have a power-saving feature that turns them off after a period of inactivity. Check the soundbar's manual to see if this feature is enabled and how to disable it. 5. Check the TV settings: Some LG TVs have a setting that turns off the sound output when the TV is turned off. This setting can be disabled in the TV settings. 6. Factory reset the soundbar: If none of the above solutions work, try resetting the soundbar to its factory settings.
