Yes it's a requirement. They will not install the refrigerator if not purchased.

Yes, but if you currently have a waterline it may be in good enough shape to use. We purchased it and then returned it 24 hours after delivery and install (due to Best Buy return policies, you have to wait 24 hours before you can return it even though you pay for everything in full a week or more before delivery) for full refund. We figured it was better to be safe than sorry
