“My old tv had an audio out that connected to my hearing aid assist and an optical; audio that went to my stereo. This tv seems to only have optical. I've seen optical splitters, will that serve my purpose? If not is there another way to connect both?”

There is no 3.5 mm jack on the TV :/. I used an ARC audio extractor from Amazon to use 3.5.

For the sound bar I went to Walmart.com and searched for 'Optical Digital Audio Out to Analog'. I selected a $10 converter box from a third party vendor. The analog cables from my sound bar connect to the box which came with two cables. A power cable which connected to a USB port on the TV, and a Toslink cable which connects to the box but does not have the right fitting for the TVs 'ODAO' port. Walmart did have a $20 cable with a separate "ODAO" plug but I went back online and ordered an $8 cord with both fittings that should connect the TV to the box. My cost to use my old sound bar so far is $18. Still working on the TV to VCR/CD connection and with limited USB ports on the TV I decided to go with a USB split box.
