According to both the BestBuy and LG websites, the refresh rate for the 49LH570A is 60Hz. The refresh rate on this TV appears to be the actual panel refresh rate. Many experts recommend a panel refresh rate of 120Hz or more for watching sports or other action-type television. But a lower rate is usually less expensive and might be just fine for the most viewers. When comparing TVs, you want to know what the panel refresh rate is - that's the rate the screen gets updated. On some TVs, you may see marketing-speak rates that include "action" or "motion", etc. followed by a number. This is especially true for lower-priced TVs with higher refresh rate numbers like 120Hz or 240Hz. These are not the real panel refresh rates, they use some software techniques (interpolation, black screen insertion) to improve the image. While these may help, they aren't the same as a TV that is really refreshing the panel at the same rate.
