To connect your Soundbar's stereo RCA audio inputs (Red/White) to the Optical Digital Audio Out on the LG 50 inch Class 4K Smart UHD TV (49.5'' Diag), Model # 50UM6900PUA, you will need to purchase a Digital/Analog Converter. If your local BestBuy does not carry them, you can order one from BestBuy.com. You also mentioned that your Soundbar has "the reg red/white outputs ". If it doesn't have inputs on it, you cannot connect it to the TV. You cannot connect an output to another output...^IFV
