Probably because the $1600 TV is an OLED, which is the high end technology.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Any of the TV over 1500 dollars are LG's newer TV using OLED technology. OLED stands for "Organic Light Emitting Diodes" In OLED TVs. All the little tiny pixels on the screen lights itself up on its own. Where as regular TVs use LCD technology with an LED backlight behind the pixels to light up the picture. As you can guess, OLED TVs don't need a backlight because the pixels can light themselves now. And without a need for a backlight, the TV can be made super thin. This is the reason for the price difference.
