• Yes you can hook up your soundbar with an optical connection. I have my hooked up now, and it works wonderfully. I tried it with a hdmi connection, and there really was no difference in the sound. So I chose the optical which freed up an hdmi connection for me to hook up my DVD player, my xfinity box, as well as a dvd/ vcr recorder that I have.
