• No the TV is a smart tv and you can navigate the Apps via remote

• No, I didn’t have to use my phone for anything during setup, once I was connect to the internet I logged into all my apps on the smart tv platform (LG is webOS) and it is very user friendly with the remote. The apps are also easy to update if need be

• Yes indeed you must use your phone to call the toll free apps aviator activation system using the 7 digit code printed on your receipt... but once you do this you can throw your phone away and just use your TV remote for everything..
