Sound is adequate. A sound bar will definitely enhance the experience.

For a very thing TV, the sound with its built-in subwoofers is amazingly great for regular TV viewing. If you want the full-fletched cinema experience you may want to consider hooking it up an Audio-Video Receiver with at least a 5.1 speaker setup.

The Tv's sound isn't bad, much better then average I'd say...but I purchased the sound bar and it was worth it to me. The sound is much better, more immersive . There's a lot of good choices, but My personnel opinion is to ensure sound bar includes a sub-woofer, the extra bass really seems to Fill-up the room and create a more satisfying experience ...especially movies. Hope that helps
