• I'm going to answer my own question for those who may also be interested. From another source this TV does use full-array LED backlighting and local dimming. This is a big up-grade to edge lit. No more glowing edges on hi contrast scenes. Local dimming does a great job of creating black levels close to but not exactly that of OLED. I've seen this technology in action on a 65" tv and the picture is amazing for LED! At this price and a 75" LG, it's a go for me.
