“For this tv the IR receiver in the tv seems to be not working, the remote does not work unless it is writhing 6 inches of the tv. Is this a common thing? Is there any way to fix?”

To answer your question, this behavior is not typical, and we can certainly help you troubleshoot. Please ensure that the batteries are replaced with a fresh pair of alkaline batteries, as weak power often causes reduced range. Additionally, check that there are no obstructions, such as a soundbar, blocking the TV's IR receiver (located at the bottom center of the screen).
